Are you wearing wrong Footwear ?

One of the reasons of Foot Pain, knee Pain and Back Pain

Footwear you wear depends a lot on foot type, otherwise it effects your Knees, Back and Posture.

Harmful flipflops - cause back pain foot pain

Flip Flops

Flip flops cause you to take shorter strides and turn your ankles inward, as per Auburn university study. The biggest problem with Flip flops is if your biomechanics are incorrect, it amplifies the affect. E.g. in the picture shown of a flip flop of a Flat Foot person, if you carefully see it is worn off from one side amplifying pressure imbalance and thus pain. It causes major changes in your gait(the natural way you walk and run) can cause serious chronic pain in the ankles, knees, hips, back and neck. Avoid flip-flops if you suffer from Foot Pain, Back pain or any other bio-mechanical problem. Go for footwear with Arch support. Heel Pain is dangerous

High Heels

Wearing High heels occasionally doesn’t do any structural damage. However, real problem arises when you wear them everyday.

When wearing heels, the body must adjust and shift its overall weight and center of gravity to compensate for the heel of the shoe. The higher the heel, the higher the risk of lower back, hip, and knee issues. With habitual wearing of heels two inches or higher, the Achilles tendon and calf muscles can face changes in shape.

High heels is one of the major reason of Bunions and Achilles Tendonitis

Running Shoe for foot pain

Shoes with good cushioning properties can reduce the impacts on the body and back when the foot hits the ground during walking and running. However :

  • Get the right fit. Tight shoes can aggravate foot pain, and cause gait compensation. Oversized shoes can also impair gait.
  • Replace your shoes as needed. When the supporting cushioning becomes worn, it is no longer helpful.

However, First thing to check before buying shoes is what type of foot you have. Is your arch neutral ? Do you have over pronation or under pronation

Custom Insoles are great options if you have posture problems, foot pain, any bio-mechanical issue or even if you want to upgrade your shoe for sports and comfort.

Some extra points :

  • We advise not to use same footwear all the time.
  • Custom orthotics work for bio-mechanical problems, and provide perfect support for arch to prevent injuries and also provide comfort
  • Barefoot running/walking is good only when done in park, or rough ground. Marble floor at home flattens the arch.
  • Check your footwear regularly for wear and tear. A wear on one side of shoe calls for attention.
